Environment Day 2017

Environment Day is celebrated in Ukraine on the third Saturday of April since 1998 according to the Order of President of Ukraine “About the Environment Day” № 855/98. On this day public organizations hold activities and events aimed at improvement of environmental state, cleaning of water sources, landscape gardening, preservation of protected objects and sharing the ecological knowledge. Initially, the holiday was established to celebrate the Stockholm environment conference, which became one of the most important in the history of environmental movement. On this day, UNEP (United Nations Environment Network) was established – the ecological program of the UNO which is the main organizer and ideologist of the Environment Day. In 2017, Environment Day in Ukraine falls on April 15.
