February 2 - World Wetlands Day


           Convention about wetlands that have an international significance, mainly as a habitat for swimming birds (known as “Ramsar Convention” named after the city of establishment – Ramsar in Iran) started its countdown on February 2, 1971. Ukraine renewed its membership in Convention in 1996 and is among 169 countries – Parties of the Convention. In 2017, Secretariat of Ramsar Convention suggested to celebrate the World Wetlands Day with the motto “Wetlands for decrease of impact of natural disasters”.
